I am running for Carlton County Commissioner because I care deeply for our county, its people, and natural resources.Raising my own family here has been wonderful, but it takes work to keep it that way! I have the skills and experience to make tough decisions based on evidence, and reason. I listen to residents and believe the government should support the wellbeing of its residents.
Every day, I hear from neighbors who are feeling the squeeze of financial strain. With rising costs, stagnant wages, and a real shortage of jobs that pay a true living wage, it is getting harder for families in our community to get ahead. As your next representative, I am committed to tackling these challenges head-on. I believe we must keep our local taxes reasonable and ensure that every single dollar of your hard-earned money is used in the most efficient way possible. But efficiency doesn't mean cutting corners. I will work tirelessly to make sure our essential community services remain top-quality. Together, we can build a stronger, more stable local economy where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Right now, many of us are rightfully alarmed by the plans to build data centers in our area. I share those concerns deeply. I fully support the one-year moratorium passed by our current board. This temporary pause is vital because it gives us the time we need to make a truly responsible decision. We must carefully evaluate how these developments threaten our rural way of life and our precious natural resources. I am committed to standing up for our community's voice, ensuring we protect the land we love while making smart, thoughtful choices for our shared future.
My focus is on enhancing and creating sustainable economic opportunities that truly serve us all. To me, this means focusing on jobs—specifically, securing living wage jobs that allow families to thrive and improve our overall quality of life. We need to ensure we are building generations of sustainability, creating a resilient community that our children and grandchildren can inherit. I will work hard to foster these sustainable opportunities, ensuring our economy supports both our immediate needs and our long-term future.
